This ultimate accolade reflects a cheese's superior quality and excellence across all judging criteria.

          Snowdonia Cheese Co won three prestigious accolades at the International Cheese &amp;amp; Dairy Awards 2024.

          Our new cheese bakes, launched last year, won their first awards: a gold for our Rock Star Cheese &amp;amp; Wine Bake, and a silver for our Black Bomber Welsh Rarebit Cheese Bake. In addition, Red Devil – our spicy Red Leicester with Habanero chillies and peppers – took home a bronze medal.

As the world’s biggest platform championing world-class cheese and dairy producers, it attracts more than 5,500 entries each year – so to receive not one but three medals is a huge honour.

          Fonterra has once again proven its excellence in the dairy industry with a series of impressive wins at the UK’s prestigious International Cheese and Dairy Awards (ICDA), the world’s biggest platform to champion world-class producers of cheese and dairy products.This year's event saw Fonterra's Brands, including NZMP, Anchor Food Professionals and Duck River Premium Butter shine on the global stage, showcasing the best of our dairy products to the world.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          Cathy Lang, Master Cheesemaker at our Eltham Bridge Street site, said that Fonterra had a fantastic presence at the competition. 
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          “The blocks were presented beautifully on the judging tables. There was a lot of interest in our delicious pasture-fed cheddars, and feedback from existing buyers was very positive.” said Cathy. 
          &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          Fonterra's entries received numerous accolades, including gold medals for NZMP Unsalted Pastry butter, two varieties of processed cheese, and Fonterra Oceania’s Duck River butter, all made across factories in New Zealand and Australia. Across the cheddar categories, we won gold for Best New Zealand Cheese as well as Best Australian Cheese! What an achievement.

          Out of the 26 medals claimed at the awards, 10 were gold, seven silver, and nine bronze – see below for the full list of awards won.Fonterra’s Collingwood Street, Hautapu, Herenveen, Kauri, Lichfield, Morrinsville, Stanhope, Stirling, Te Rapa, Wynyard, and Spreyton sites all took away awards for their cheeses. Fonterra’s continued success at the ICDA is a testament to the world class dairy our farmer shareholders and manufacturing teams work hard to produce every day.

          "New Zealand dairy trade to the UK has a special history, being our largest market until the 1970s, and supplying the UK’s favourite butter for over a century. Following the NZ-UK Free Trade Agreement entering into force last May, we have rebuilt historic relationships and developed new routes to market. The great news for Fonterra is that British buyers and consumers are loving having New Zealand dairy available again, with over 10,000mt of product contracted in the first financial year post FTA."       <title>British Blue cheese crowned Supreme Champion Cheese</title>

          A blue cheese made by Long Clawson Dairy was named Supreme Champion Cheese in Stafford, UK on Thursday 30 June. Shropshire Blue rose to the top as the best UK and intern ational cheese at the International Cheese &amp;amp; Dairy Awards, which was held at Staffordshire County Showground as part of the three-day cheese and dairy event, combining a one-day trade show with a two day consumer festival – Love Cheese Live.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Produced by The Long Clawson Dairy co-operative established in 1911 that continues to be run by farmers and relies on local milk from over 41 farms in Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire to create a range of very special cheeses. 
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           “We’re delighted that our small farming cooperative, where the craft and care of our master cheesemakers is so important to us, was recognised through our delicious Shropshire Blue entry. We’re still on high spirits after our win and are busy making space in our awards cabinet for the Supreme Champion Trophy!” said Bill Mathieson, Managing Director, Long Clawson Dairy.
          &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Despite its name, Shropshire Blue isn't made in Shropshire, nor has it ever been. It was originally made in Scotland and is now made in the Stilton producing regions of Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire by Long Clawson Dairy. The cheeses are then matured for their full term of n a period of 10-12 weeks, it forms an orange-brown, natural rind and smooth texture. With a sharp, strong flavour and a bit tangy aroma, it is a vegetarian's cheese having a fat content of 48%.
          &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Dai Williams, Head pf Judging at the International Cheese &amp;amp; Dairy Awards commented, “Once again we have had fantastic support from all aspects of our industry with 238 judges from all business sectors supporting us on the day. The effort to judge 4000 cheeses in 400 plus classes and get to the winner in four hours is a fantastic achievement by all.”

           In a close-run final, the Supreme runner up was awarded to a goats cheese made by FrieslandCampina in Holland. The Supreme Champion Dairy Product (non-dairy) went to Fonterra for their culinary cream and Morrisons were awarded Supreme Cheese Retailer. Ian Luxton, Chairman of the International Cheese &amp;amp; Dairy Awards, added: “As the ICDAs was founded over 125 years ago to showcase the work of the British and International cheesemakers, it gives me immense pleasure to see a cheesemaking business with such history taking top honours. It’s an incredible feat to stand out in a field of over 4,000 cheeses from every corner of the world, but Long Clawson clearly had everything: delivering an exceptional appearance, aroma, texture and flavour.             All entries were judged in a single day, as 238 experts considered appearance, texture, aroma, and flavour of the cheese, dairy and accompaniments. Bronze, Silver, Gold and Champion accolades were awarded first, before the Supreme Champions were reassessed to find this year’s trophy winners.

          The Awards are proud to support UK and International artisan cheese and dairy producers. It has been a difficult couple of years and we need to continue to buy and support the smaller producers and recognise the quality and effort they put into their products. This year we are introducing the Supreme Artisan Producer of the Year Award which is sponsored by Rowcliffe and will be presented during the trade lunch. This award is important to the industry as is supports and creates awareness for the artisan producers.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           This year the awards is celebrating its 125-year anniversary.  We are taking this opportunity to celebrate our history, our culture and plans to secure the longevity of the awards for the next generation.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          Since the move to Staffordshire County Showground, we are building on this foundation and are constantly looking at ways to grow and evolve the awards.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

          To support smaller producers, we are introducing the Artisan Producer of the Year Trophy sponsored by Rowcliffes that will be announced in the trade lunch.

    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
          Treur Kaas – Jerseyhoeve Schorren Organic Aged Gouda
         &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
          The judging took place on 28th July 2020 by a panel of industry experts. The consensus of judges was that the Treur Kaas Jerseyhoeve Schorren Organic Aged Gouda was the winner but thought all entries were the best of their type.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
          Commenting on the win, Esther van Krimpen, “It is really special to finish at the top of the list again. We are delighted with the results and very proud to have this wonderful cheese in our range. This proves Treur Kaas is the partner for speciality Dutch Cheese".

          We have enjoyed a long association with the Nantwich Agricultural Society since 1897, we would like to sincerely thank them for their support over the years and will be retaining our strong historical links with them. However, the time is right to move to a larger weatherproof site that is sustainable, has robust agricultural links and protects our sponsor and exhibitor investment.
